However the item will not retain its ilvl level Rerolling is useful if the item has rare affixes. Rerolling an item resets the base power as well as any upgrades, and then rerolls all substats, in addition to that. This can be useful if the power of an upgraded item is less than what you want, or if the player would like to have different substats on an existing ring.
